The show must go on...
I landed my first principal actor (speaking) role! A horror film called “The Hourglass”. It’s a short 5-minute horror film for The 48 Hour Film Project. A global film competition. The winners get screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
The director, Brenda Sherwood, found me on Instagram and offered me the role. I accepted. Thanks Brenda!
I was an actor on the show, but I also designed the website, the poster and am doing the social media.
Quite the project! They gave us the genre, a line and a prop that has to be used on Friday. Then we had a zoom meeting Friday evening, created a script, met Saturday morning, filmed all day, did the editing on Sunday and submitted it.
It was a 24-hour day. After we put together a script Friday evening, I was up at 3:00am, picked up the camera guy and his girlfriend who was acting in it. Drove 2.5 hours north to the Muskokas, filmed all day, by the time I got home it was 3am the next day.
It’s sanctioned by the Canadian Actors Union ACTRA (of which I am a member) and I will get my first credit for this on my IMDb page
The screening is Nov 12 at 6:30pm at The Royal Theatre (608 College St, Toronto). I can’t wait to see it!
